About the Event
Leeds Arts Union is offering a new creative and social space for students who identify as a person of colour or coming from a minoritised ethnicity, and are looking to connect. The space is created in acknowledgement of feelings of isolation on campus and aims to unite as a strong community while also respecting and celebrating our members’ individual identities.
As a new space, the community will receive a name and take the shape of those who attend, but could provide opportunities to present your work and get feedback, creative activities (such as creating videos and zines), discussions, film screenings, open mic, games, invited academic and culture-based talks, and more.
The community could also liaise with other student societies and, if desired, the university on representation, academic curriculum, careers, and alumni. Beyond this safer space, there is also an opportunity to host events open to the wider university, for example celebrating cultural festivals and important dates.
